Our Principals
Mr. James Chisholm, Principal
I am proud, honored and extremely excited to serve as your K-4 Elementary Principal.
Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment that places an emphasis on the social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs of all students. We encourage staff, parents and community members to work together to create a school community that enhances the educational experience for all our students.
Our staff delivers a comprehensive and rigorous academic program, as well as provides exceptional opportunities which enhance all aspects of the school experience. Through our PEEP program ( Positive Environment 4 Everyone @ Perry ) we create a caring and accepting environment by focusing on four behavior expectations; Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Ready to Learn and Be Safe. This is essential for our students to develop into strong, confident, and successful learners.
I am looking forward to working with you to ensure the success for all our students! If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to learn more about our school, please feel free to contact me using my email or 440-259-9600.
Mrs. Coni Steverding, Dean of Students/Learning Facilitator
As I am entering my 29th year in education, I continue to be grateful for the opportunity to be the Dean of Students for Perry Elementary. I have worked at Perry Local Schools for the last 19 years. I first taught 9th and 12th grade English at the high school for two years and then spent 13 years working as a Learning Facilitator which is a K-12 position centered on curriculum, instruction and assessment. In addition, I lead our New Teacher Induction and Resident Education Programs, served as an adjunct professor for Ashland University teaching educator courses to our staff and assisted in the professional development of many of our district initiatives. Within this position, I was able to work with teacher in all subjects, at all grade levels. When working with the teachers at PES, I have been impressed with their strong commitment to the needs of our students and their constant pursuit of learning. I am fortunate to continue to work with these teachers as we get better every day for our students.
It is our goal at PES to ensure a safe environment for all of our students in which they are respectful, responsible and ready to learn so that we can be strong Perry PEEPS. One tool we utilize to achieve this goal is the R factor. We are excited about our work with this tool in which students use the powerful equation: E (Event) + R (Response) = O (Outcome). Students will learn through school-wide assemblies, teacher and principal led lessons, our school chant, and daily reminders that our “on-path” responses to the events in our life, both good and bad, will lead us to our “treasures” (learning, kindness, success, friendship) and not sink our ship. I look forward to working with our PES students on this journey!
