Internship Spotlight 4/17/26

Posted Date: 04/17/26 (02:22 PM)

Meet Tatum, one of our seniors in the internship class who is gaining real-world healthcare experience in the PACU at Tri-Point Hospital. Working alongside Mrs. Newsome, a PACU nurse, Tatum has had the incredible opportunity to observe procedures such as a knee replacement, a live colonoscopy, and even a patient receiving a nerve block.

Between patients, she helps fill patient bags and observes nurses completing charting, starting IVs, and attaching EKG machines. Beyond the technical side of nursing, Tatum is learning about the wide range of emotions patients experience before surgery and how to connect with them, especially young children. Her internship experience is strengthening her patient interactions and communication skills, building both confidence and compassion as she explores a future in healthcare.

Additionally, Tatum completed the Certified Nursing Assistant course while at Perry High School. Tatum is off to Penn State Behrend to study nursing.  She is well on her way to a future in healthcare!
