Welding Students Learn About Plasma & Carbon Arc Gouging

Posted Date: 04/08/26 (10:16 AM)

Late last month, despite 30-degree temps, our welders (and a few extra) showed up and stayed engaged.

We were fortunate to have Mr. Greg Rinehart from the Operator’s Union and Kokosing lead an incredible hands-on demonstration. Students learned about plasma arc gouging and carbon arc gouging, and got to see a variety of high-end tools in action, including a 1” impact wrench from Hartville Hardware.

Mr. Rinehart also shared insight into the tools he uses daily and what students can expect in the field, giving them a real-world look at the industry.  Cold weather didn’t slow them down—our students were all in.  We are especially grateful for people like Mr. Rinehart who supports the students in the welding collaboration between Perry High School and Lake Erie College.
