Internship Spotlight 3/26/26
This semester, Halle has been completing her internship with the Perry Police Department’s School Resource Officer, where she is gaining an introductory understanding of policing within a school and community setting. Her interest in criminal justice and security, paired with her love of technology, has motivated her to explore the many ways these fields intersect.
Her mentor, Officer Collins, taught her about the phonetic alphabet and about some of the commonly used forms police officers have to complete. Officer Battiato would give her different scenarios to think through and discuss possible responses. They even worked through some examples of crime scene analysis.
Throughout the semester, Halle has taken advantage of several hands-on learning opportunities. She participated in a ride-along with another local police department, allowing her to observe daily police operations and community interactions firsthand. She also spent time with members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office dispatch, where she learned how communication, technology, and quick decision-making support officers in the field.
We are excited to see where her interests in law enforcement and technology lead her next!
