A Message from the Superintendent - March 12, 2020
In an effort to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), Governor DeWine has ordered all schools to be closed for the next three weeks. Perry Local Schools and the Pirate Athletic Center will be closed at the end of the day on Friday, March 13th and will remain closed through at least Friday, April 3rd. This includes the cancellation of all student activities on campus. School will be in session tomorrow March 13th.
When students leave school on Friday, they will be instructed to take their chromebooks, school materials, and any personal items home with them.
Students should be prepared to complete their blizzard bag assignments on the 18th through the 20th. We will be sending out more information regarding the continuation of distance/remote learning in the coming days.
We understand that this closure brings challenges and hardships to all of us. As stated by the Governor, this is a significant crisis which requires difficult decisions. We will continue to work relentlessly to develop ways we can help our families in need. Look for more information regarding special programs as it becomes available.
The safety and wellness of our students and staff is paramount and as such, we will continue to follow the recommendations of government and health officials while providing updates to our Perry community. Helpful links can be found on our District website, www.perry-lake.org.
Thank you for your understanding as we navigate together through these uncharted times. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact your building’s administrator.
Dr. Jack Thompson
Superintendent, Perry Local Schools
