Message From Food Services - September 1, 2020
It has been terrific to see the kids back and smiling. I know each of the Food Service Staff missed serving them the past several months.
We have started every day with a modified Grab and Go breakfast to help speed up the lines and allow students to socially distance. Breakfast bags include cereal, muffin or poptart, as well as a cheese stick, juice, white or chocolate milk, and the choice of an additional fruit at check out.
Lunch has less entrees, but is also served daily. Our goal is to serve a warm or cold nutritious lunch including many of the long time favorites of the students. Lunch periods have been extended in every building with less students in each period. This allows students to get through lines quicker and to help support social distancing while eating. The deli bars have been put on hold at the HS and MS to reduce crowding. Pre-made deli sandwiches and specialty salads are still available.
All items served at breakfast and lunch are either individually wrapped or placed in a covered container. Coolers are held open so students only need to touch the item they are selecting. Cashiers are handing out silverware packs and condiments. All surfaces are cleaned with an appropriate cleaner before preparing meals, between lines, and again at the end of the day. Food service staff wear masks during both food preparation and serving.
Remember, a new free and reduced meal application is required every year. The application can be found on the Food Service Web page.
As always, please feel free to call or email me with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support of the Food Service Department.
