Donovan Douglas (Doug) Jenkins, age 63, from Perry, OH, passed away Tuesday January 2, 2018 in Death Valley, CA.  Doug was born on August 28, 1954 in Columbus, OH. He graduated from North High in Columbus and continued on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Miami University in Oxford, OH.
Doug was a standout high school athlete and earned a baseball scholarship to Miami University where he was a four-year letterman. He was proud to be a member of Miami's MAC Championship Team in 1973 and 1974. Doug played baseball in two summer leagues located in Cape Cod, MA for the Yarmouth Red Sox in 1974 and the Fairbanks, AK Goldpanners in 1975.
In 1977, he married Pamela Vanderbrink in Oxford, OH then began his teaching career in Carlisle, OH. In 1988, he was hired as a Principal at Perry Middle School in Perry, OH and in the following years he earned a Master's Degree in Education from Akron University. In 2007, after 30 years in education, Doug retired as Principal of Perry High School, coinciding with the end of his tenure as a long, suffering Browns fan. During his retirement, Doug was able to follow his dream of traveling the country, playing golf with his friends and spending time with his family. He spent many happy winters working at Furnace Creek Golf Course in Death Valley, CA and summers in Oregon camping, and of course, playing golf.

Doug was a loving father, son, brother, and educator who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Meghan Shehorn and her husband Mike of Chicago, IL, son Brian Jenkins and his wife Sarah of Charlotte, NC, daughter Molly Bockwoldt and husband Paul of Ann Arbor, MI, mother Mary Margaret Jenkins of Columbus, OH, brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Barb Jenkins of Columbus, OH, and wife Pam Jenkins of Perry, OH. He also leaves behind his 5 grandchildren, Evelyn and Reese Shehorn, Zooey and Ella Jenkins, and Wyatt Bockwoldt, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
