Michael Horvath, Class of 1965
Michael Horvath, age 69 of Carrabelle, Florida, passed away on May 12, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, on March 1, 2012. He was born in Painesville, Ohio on July 30, 1946 and was a 1965 graduate of Perry High School. Michael was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the United States Air Force in Cambodia as a Crew Chief on a KC 135 Stratotanker. He achieved the rank of staff sergeant. It was while in service state-side that he met his future wife, Linda, a resident of Carabelle. After being discharged, they moved to Carrabelle and Michael became a respected member of the community, as well as a member of Curfew #73 Masonic Lodge. Michael was involved with Camp Gordon Johnston, a World War II Museum in Tallahassee, Florida. He was the driving force of the Camp Gordon Johnston Association since becoming its Executive Secretary, handling the museum's social media, attending networking seminars, fundraising, assisting with the building planning, and the recent Camp Gordon Johnston Days.
