District COVID-19 Positive Test Result Notification Procedures

District Reporting COVID-19 Positive Test Result Procedures

Your health is of the utmost importance. Staff members or parents/guardians of students who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 should notify the district's on-call nurse immediately at 440-417-2630. In response to a case of COVID-19 in our school system, the following steps occur: 


  • The District will notify The Lake County General Health District (LCGHD).


  • Contact tracing begins. Under recommendations from the LCGHD, a person exposed may be required or strongly recommended to quarantine and/or wear a facial covering.


  • Parents/students or staff who shared a space with the individual with a COVID positive test result are notified by the school district within 24 hours. 


Orders mandated by the Ohio Department of Health regarding communications of COVID-19 cases within a school district currently remain in effect. These orders can be found at https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/static/publicorders/DO-K-12-Reporting.pdf
 
Within 24 hours of receiving notification, the district will send an email to our staff and a single district wide communication containing information regarding how many cases occurred within that same day and in which buildings. These communications are normally sent by 4:00 PM. A separate communication will be sent to those who shared space on a bus, in a classroom, or activity with the individual diagnosed or presumed to be COVID positive.
